I suggest using the commit messages to describe the changes, rather than making them dates/versions. Using a separate changelog file instead of prepending changes to comments in the source code is also a good idea in my opinion.

True. I was being lazy at the moment since all the workflows essentially involve copy / paste in multiple places. Will be added going forward.
